The last class I was in was back in April 19th. Between class being cancled and trips I can not remember any thing from this class. BTW I did finishing a really big test for the military so I can get promoted so my brain is fried and deleteing information from that.

Terms and Acronym.
Tutorial 7 Wireless Networking Security is a really good chapter. There is a lot of information included in this chapter and A LOT of terms and Acronyms.
1. Hot spot. It is a area of coverage in a wireless Network that uses the 802.11 standard.
2. IrDA Infrared Data Association This association is dedicated to making high speed wireless network using infrared devices.
3. MAC Media Control Address. Basically identifies the hardware computer almost same as the serial number does. Can be used to allow access to network or deny it.
4. MAN Metropolitan Area Network A network that provides wireless broadband Internet Access via radio signals in the 2 to 11 GHz and 10 to 66 GHz radio spectrum
5. PAN Personal Area Network A wireless network that uses infrared light waves or bluetooth radio waves to connect personal devices to each other.
6. PCS Personal Communication Service a digital wireless network that transfers voice and text data at a rates of up to 14.4kbs
7. PD.A Personal Digital Assistant A handheld computer that can send and receive wireless telephone and fax calls basically a computer.
8. Piconet A collection of two to eight devices such as PDA and Notebook computer that communicate with each other using bluetooth radio waves.
9. SMS Short Message Service
10. SSID Service Set Identifier A name broadcast by a wireless router or access point that wireless devices use to identify the network and connect to it.
11. VOIP Voice Over Internet Protocol. Basically using the phone over the internet.
12. War driving. Driving around trying to find unsecured wireless internet points.
13. WPA Wi-Fi Protected Access A security measure to counter war driving can be broken.
14. WEP Wired Equivalent Protocol Same as WPA but harder to crack
15. WLan Wireless Local Area Network Is using a wireless router to create and hot spot for you to connect to.
16. WWAN Wireless World Wide Area Network Basically it is what Verizon and At&t use to make internet available to all the phones in its coverage area
17. WiMax, Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access Basically it uses a different signal to make coverage higher.
18. Blue Tooth A wireless technology that uses short range radio waves to allow communication between compatible devices.

19. piggybacking a term used to describe a person who gains access to and uses a wireless network sometimes war driving.
20. Blue Bugging AN attack on Bluetooth devices that occur when a hacker gains access to the devices and also to all of its functions without the owners consent.
21. blue jacking AN attack on Bluetooth device in which a person called a bluejacker sends and anonymous message in the form of a phone contact that is displayed as a text message in an attempt to surprise the owner.

Okay I totally EPIC FAIL. I cant log in the account to post a new post on my blog so I am putting them in the comment sections of their respective Blogs.
